Mobile Banking Updates - Week of Oct 1

I apologize for having missed a few days but I was in New York attending the Finovate 2007 conference. If you haven't had an opportunity to hear much about the event you can read my notes at the Mobile Money and Banking site. I hate to belabor the point, but if you were not able to attend please make sure that it's on your calendar for next year. Over the course of a day I was able to meet with a number of vendors including: mFoundry, Clairmail, M-Com, SRM Technologies, Sybase, Firethorn, and YellowPepper. I met fellow bankers from Citi, JP Morgan Chase, Capital One, ABSA, and ECCU. Plus, had the pleasure of spending time with a number of interesting bloggers including: Christophe Langlois, Paul Ruppert, Jim Bruene, and William Azaroff.

But now it's back to business. Here's the news:

Finovate 2007 - Next Week!

In case you haven't heard Finovate 2007 is next week. Now, I checked the site and the main auditorium is sold out, but they were able to secure an "overflow" room down the hall and have discounted the price of those tickets. If you are undecided I would recommend attending. In fact, if you haven't visited the new dedicated site be sure to check it out now. There is going to be a strong vendor presence, but more importantly I'm expecting to see a strong bank presence. Learning about the vendor solutions is critical, but I'm equally interested participating in break-out sessions with other bankers. See you in NYC.

Finovate 2007

Late yesterday Mobile Banking & Money announced that they will host their first conference dedicated to the mobile banking channel on October 2nd - Finovate 2007.

The location - New York City

But this is not your ordinary conference. According to MM&B, "Following the popular format pioneered by DEMO, FINOVATE 2007 will provide companies with a mere seven minutes to “wow!” an audience of 200 leading executives, investors, analysts, members of the press and bloggers with actual demonstrations of their latest & greatest products and services (no powerpoint allowed!)."

NO POWERPOINT!! All Hail Finovate 2007!
