KeyBank Launches New Mobile Banking Solution with mFoundry

Nokia invests in mobile money firm Obopay
"The world's top cellphone maker Nokia (NOK1V.HE) has bought a minority stake in Obopay, enabling the U.S. mobile money firm to extend its product offering and geographical presence.'This investment reflects our belief in the global potential for mobile payments,' Teppo Paavola, head of Corporate Business Development at Nokia, said in a statement. The size of the investment was not disclosed."

MasterCard outlines mobile strategy
"The last piece of the mobile contactless payments puzzle in the U.S. is the commercial roll-out of NFC-enabled handsets from major OEMs and carriers, according to MasterCard. MasterCard Worldwide announced the issuance of the 50 millionth MasterCard PayPass card or mobile device, as of the fourth quarter 2008, which in the last year more than doubles the number of cards and devices in circulation worldwide."

HSBC adds mobile banking to outsourced payments platform

"Today, Citi and Firethorn Holdings, LLC, a Qualcomm company (NASDAQ: QCOM), introduced Citi Mobile for Cards, an advanced mobile solution that allows Citi credit card customers to quickly, easily and securely access real-time credit card account information on their mobile phones. Citi Mobile for Cards is now available to AT&T subscribers as part of AT&T Mobile Banking, and to Verizon Wireless customers who download and use the free mobile banking application on Get It Now."

Mobilearth and Cooperative Services bring Mobile Banking to the Credit Unions of Georgia.

Jacksonville, Fla.-based FIS is starting to sign up interested banks, Kishore Bayyapureddy, senior vice president of FIS told BS&T."

Learn about Mobilearth and Eisenhower Bank

In June I participated in a webinar conducted by Foreword Financial entitled "Mobile Financial Services: Catch the Wave." During the presentation I remember Tom Llewellyn, EVP/CIO of Broadway Bank speak very highly of a mobile banking vendor that I was not familiar with – Mobilearth.

Then, yesterday I had the pleasure speaking with Graeme Cox and Tia Lee (Mobilearth) via a WebEx presentation, and learned a little more about their company and mobile offering. Mobilearth, based in Vancouver, Canada, was established in 2004 and is primarily focused on the browser-based mobile banking solution. Mobilearth became much more visible last year when Eisenhower Bank (a division of Broadway Bank based in San Antonio Texas) announced that they would be deploying the Mobilearth solution to their clientele which is predominately comprised of military personnel.
